What Makes the Subaru Outback Wilderness Trim Level Different

The Wilderness is a new trim first made available to Middletown customers in 2022. You’ll immediately notice a difference when you see it next to a base Subaru Outback. That’s because it’s perched higher. It has a ground clearance of 9.5 inches, making it taller than the other Subaru Outbacks with a ground clearance of 8.7 inches. In addition, this special trim rides on 17-inch off-road wheels with a matte-black finish and all-terrain tires. These components can help you conquer challenging terrain around Jefferson, Maryland, and beyond.

Performance

When you get behind the wheel of a Subaru Outback Wilderness, you can feel all the power it offers. Like the Subaru Outback XT trims, it runs on a turbocharged, 2.4-liter engine with 277 pound-feet of torque and 260 horsepower. The Wilderness trim level has the same drivetrain as the others, but it’s been tweaked. As a result, it has better low-speed climbing abilities. Further, this trim’s dual-function X-MODE system improves traction in tough conditions. This wagon can handle deep snow, mud, and sand with relative ease.

Design

The Wilderness is the only Subaru Outback trim available in a Geyser Blue exterior color. It has copper-finish accents outside its cabin, and you’ll find an anti-glare decal in the center of the hood. The cabin of the Subaru Outback Wilderness features StarTex upholstery with contrast stitching, and the interior copper-finish accents will catch your eye.
